They learn that employees have a responsibility to complete a tax return by the end of October 31 each financial year and explore the concept of allowable deductions and how these can be used to reduce taxable income.

Students interpret budget data to develop hypotheses and arguments on reasons for budgetary changes over time.

In this activity, students investigate the living standards of different countries in the Asia region. They locate display and interpret data to explain the relationship between living standards and taxation systems (tax revenue and spending). They collaboratively model the consequences of significant reductions to government spending to further explain this relationship.
